Bath Time Bliss
There's something magical about watching a toddler playing in the bath. Dexter has always been a water baby and I think that is largely due to the swimming classes we attending when he was younger. There are some fantastic baby swim schools around and the one we chose was run by such a lovely and patient lady - it can't be easy running a class with 12 or so screaming babies! Dexter loved his swim lessons until he got to about 8 or 9 months and then our weekly lessons became more of a struggle rather than an enjoyment of under water swimming, he much preferred the one on one with mummy or daddy without being dunked.
We tend to go swimming every couple of weeks if we get a chance, Dexter often reminds us if we haven't taken him for a while - he absolutely adores his new armbands of which he reminded me the other day when he decided he wanted to wear them in the bath. I managed to persuade him otherwise haha I'm sure he would have quite happily sat there in the bath with them on whilst I washed him. He has such a funny little personality and makes me giggle not just on a daily basis but hourly. Take for example the picture above, he was sat there for a good 15 minutes just spraying himself, me and the bathroom with the shower head pretending to be fireman Sam. His speech is absolutely incredible and everything he was saying made sense, I just can't get over how imaginative he is. I'm pretty sure I wasn't like that as a child so he must get it from his father. Just listening to him playing away in the bath made me realise he is no longer a baby, he's a little boy with his own thoughts, feelings, imagination and charisma - a beautiful realisation but also a sad one - no longer a baby.
